“The snake which cannot cast its skin has to die. As well the minds which are prevented from changing their opinions; they cease to be mind.”
Friedrich Nietzsche

Often you’ll hear Nietzsche being mentioned or quoted in movies about ‘smart people’ or prodigies (Good Will Hunting, Sopranos, etc. to name a few). And don’t even get me started on how they butcher his name. It’s pronounced as ‘KNEE-CHA’. These prodigies or ‘smart people’ often quote him wrong or portray him as someone who was a nihilist or supported Nazism, which he didn’t and strongly detested(but his works were used by Hitler and Nazism to justify and promote their beliefs). Why am I starting with these? It’s because there are a lot of misunderstandings related to Nietzsche and his works. I mean take his most famous line ‘God is Dead.’. Often people take it as an atheistic and nihilistic declaration but that’s not what Nietzsche said or intended to say.

Nietzsche is a great philosopher. The Ultimate Diss-Lord (poor Socrates). So the reason I started with the pop-culture aspect was to let you know that Nietzsche was not anything like that. That dude was an absolute madlad and his works are just amazing and as a person who appreciates Nietzsche, I’d really hate to see pop culture stain his legacy.

I’ve made posts on Camus, Kierkegaard, and Sartre before, but they were written posts so this time I thought I’d make a video. I’m still learning how to make quality videos, so bear with me. Below the video, you’ll find the order of the books, the links to the books, and numerous resources to help you.

I’ve been reading Nietzsche for more than three years now (which isn’t a lot, I agree) but I struggled a lot to understand and these resources are handpicked, those that helped me the most. I hope y’all like it. I put in quite a lot of effort in collecting and making these, so do consider following or liking my posts here on Medium or Instagram.

Enjoy!
